Chats with Vatican pharmacy director during stroll
(ANSA) - Vatican City, July 30 - Pope Francis again surprised workers Wednesday morning as he strolled through the streets of Vatican City enroute to a dental appointment.
Passing by the Vatican pharmacy, the pope stopped to chat with the director of the dispensary. Last Friday, Francis surprised maintenance staff inside the Vatican by queuing up in their cafeteria for lunch and joining workers at a common table.

The Vatican Pharmacy (Latin and Italian: Farmacia Vaticana) is the only pharmacy in the Vatican City, founded in 1874 by Eusebio Ludvig Fronmen, a Fatebenefratelli monk. According to Vatican sources, it is the busiest pharmacy in the world, with 2,000 customers per day.
The current director of the pharmacy is Rafael Cenizo Ramirez, a Fatebenefratelli monk. In 1929, following the signing of the Lateran Treaty, the Vatican Pharmacy was moved to a more suitable location, in the Piazza del Belvedere, where it remains to this day.
