TOWN OF JOHN - SQUARE "PRIEST DOMINGOS SEGURADO" AND BROAD "SAINT JOHN"

Capoeira is a Brazilian cultural expression that mixes martial arts, sports, popular culture and music. Developed in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves, is characterized by coups and agile and complex moves, using primarily kicks and sweeps, and head butting, kneeing, elbowing, soil or air acrobatics. 

One feature that distinguishes the roost of most other martial arts is its musicality. Practitioners of this Brazilian martial art not only learn to fight and play, but also playing typical instruments and singing. An experienced capoeirista who ignores the musicianship is considered incompleto. Another cultural expressions, as maculelê and samba de roda, capoeira are very attached to, although they have different meanings and origins.
