Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin issued an order to begin the large-scale military exercises in the Black Sea area.

The exercises will involve up to 7,000 military personnel, over 30 warships based in Sevastopol and Novorossiisk, aviation, rapid deployment airborne troops, marines and the special forces of the General Staff.

The exercises' main objective is to assess combat readiness and coordination among the various branches of the Armed Forces.

President Vladimir Putin ordered the launch of military exercises in the Black Sea region on Thursday, his spokesperson said. Putin issued the order at 4:00am Moscow time (0000 GMT) as he flew back from an international summit in South Africa, the president's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

3/28/2013 - YONGSAN GARRISON, Seoul (AFNS) -- U.S. Strategic Command officials sent two B-2 Spirit bombers for a long-duration, round-trip training mission from Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., to South Korea March 28 as part of the ongoing bilateral Foal Eagle training exercise.      

The exercise demonstrates the commitment of the United States and its capability to defend South Korea and to provide extended deterrence to our allies in the Asia-Pacific region.

This mission by two B-2 Spirit bombers assigned to 509th Bomb Wing, which demonstrates the United States' ability to conduct long range, precision strikes quickly and at will, involved flying more than 6,500 miles to the Korean Peninsula, dropping inert munitions on the Jik Do Range, and returning to the continental U.S. in a single, continuous mission.

The United States is steadfast in its alliance commitment to the defense of South Korea, to deterring aggression, and to ensuring peace and stability in the region. The B-2 bomber is an important element of America's enduring and robust extended deterrence capability in the Asia-Pacific region.

Their loyal slave Simonides (Sam Jaffe) is preparing for an arranged marriage for his daughter, Esther (Haya Harareet). Ben-Hur gives Esther her freedom as a wedding present, and the audience is shown that Ben-Hur and Esther are in love even though her marriage to another man is imminent.

During the parade for the new governor of Judea, Valerius Gratus, a tile falls from the roof of Ben-Hur's house. Gratus is thrown from his horse and nearly killed. Although Messala knows this was an accident, he condemns Ben-Hur to the galleys and imprisons Miriam and Tirzah. By punishing a known friend and prominent citizen, he hopes to intimidate the Jewish populace. Ben-Hur swears to take revenge. Dying of thirst when his slave gang arrives at Nazareth, Ben-Hur collapses. But a local carpenter (who the audience realizes is Jesus) gives him water.

Senate approves Gurgel explain invitation to purchase tablets

A Comissão de Meio Ambiente e Fiscalização do Senado vai convidar o procurador-geral da República, Roberto Gurgel, a explicar aos senadores a compra de tablets para a Procuradoria. A suspeita, levantada pelo senador Fernando Collor de Mello (PTB-AL), é que a compra ocorreu com falhas de licitação.

 

O líder do PSDB, senador Aloysio Nunes Ferreira (SP), tentou adiar a votação por discordar do convite a Gurgel ---mas por insistência de Collor, o requerimento foi analisado pela comissão.  

O valor da compra dos 1.226 tablets foi de R$ 3 milhões, ocorrida no dia 31 de dezembro de 2012. Collor disse que a Procuradoria fez a compra no "apagar das luzes", com a clara disposição de fraudar a licitação. 

Em nota, a Procuradoria negou irregularidades na compra dos tablets. O órgão informa que optou pelo tablet iPad 3, da Apple, pois a Lei de Licitações permite a indicação de uma marca em casos como esses. Segundo a procuradoria, o processo teve aval da área técnica.

"Durante todo o processo licitatório não foi registrado qualquer pedido de esclarecimento ou impugnação. O certame teve ampla competitividade, contando com mais de 20 participantes", diz a nota.

HMS Illustrious

HMS Illustrious is the UK’s High Readiness Helicopter and Commando Carrier. This means that Illustrious can fulfil multiple taskings as demanded by higher authority. Duties could include the use of helicopters such as Merlin, Sea King, Lynx or Apache and Royal Marines Commandos.

COMMANDER:

Martin Connell Joined Britannia Royal Naval College in 1987 graduating as a Naval College Entrant (Aviator). Following flying training he spent his early career at sea in various frigates and destroyers first as a Lynx Observer and then as an Officer of the Watch.

HMS Daring

  

HMS Daring is the first of the Navy’s six £1bn Type 45 destroyers and in early 2012 she was the first of class to deploy with a seven-month stint in the Gulf protecting shipping and working with regional partners, spending 139 days at sea, visiting 12 different countries, and travelling more than 34,643 nautical miles.

 Adrian Fryer was born in Greater Manchester in 1971. Spending the majority of his formative years on Anglesey, he was educated at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones in Amlwch and gained a BSc(Hons) in Maritime Geography from Cardiff University before joining the Royal Navy in 1992.

She graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with an Honours Degree in Mathematics prior to joining Britannia Royal Naval College in September 1995 as a Warfare Officer. HMS Vanguard

HMS Vanguard was the first of the four submarines of her class to be launched, on 4 March 1992 at Barrow. As the name-ship of the class she continued to lead the way, carrying out the first Trident missile test firing in May 1994 and the first operational deterrent patrol in early 1995. She was also the first to undergo her major mid-life refit, from 2002 to 2004, during which she was fitted with the new Core H reactor core, which will provide the power to see her through the rest of her service life.
