Do Ba Ty, Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Defense Minister of Vietnam had bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from Brunei, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

At the meeting with General Pol Saroeun, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Sr. Lt. Gen. Do Ba Ty reaffirmed the Vietnam-Cambodia’s friendship and solidarity, including the friendly ties between the two armies which function as a vital role in upholding peace and stability in the region.

Do Ba Ty, Chief of General Staff, Deputy Defense Minister of Vietnam, and entourage on February 9th arrived in Malaysia to join the 12th ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-12).  The Vietnamese officer was received by Chief of Malaysian Defense Forces, General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin. The host welcomed the guest and thanked Vietnam for its support for Malaysia in its ASEAN chairmanship.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Do Ba Ty holding talks with General Sri Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin, Chief of Malaysian Defense Forces.

During the talks, the two sides reviewed the realization of the contents outlined in the defense memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Vietnam and Malaysia in 2008 and defense cooperation over the past time in such fields as delegation exchange, search and rescue, training cooperation, etc. The two generals agreed to boost the cooperation in the MoU to further the friendship, contributing to building an ASEAN community.

(Bqp.vn) - Toward Lunar New Year 2015, on 4th February 2015, a delegation of the General Political Department head by Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan, member of Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics paid a visit to inspect and send new year greetings to the Military Zone 4 Command and some other agencies and units in the region.

On behalf of the Party Committee, Military Zone 4 Command, Lt. Gen. Vo Van Viet, the Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Zone 4 reported to the delegation on unit’s task performance in recent time. In 2014, Military Zone 4 successfully accomplished all assigned missions: ensuring internal solidarity and unity, gaining confidence of local people; maintaining friendly relations with Laos. In preparation for Lunar New Year 2015, the Standing Party Committee and the Command of Military Zone 4 have strictly carried out the planning and implementation of relevant documents to ensure safety, security, economy, high combat-readiness during Tet; the Command has sent 5 delegations to inspect and send New Year greetings to subordinate units particularly the remote and disadvantaged ones.

General Phan hailed the achievements achieved by the Military Zone 4 in 2014 and also emphasized that in 2015 the country's socio-economic situation will enjoy many advantages, yet destabilizing elements to national security and politics are still potential problems. Therefore, leaders, commanders at all levels have to strengthen the work of information orientation, political dissemination and education for officers and soldiers. In the coming time, Military Zone 4 should coordinate closely with local committees, governments and friendly country-Laos. In addition, the unit should maintain solidarity and unity to successfully accomplish assigned tasks, especially stay well-prepared for Party Congress at all levels and 70th Founding Anniversary of the Armed Forces of Military Zone 4 (15th October 1945 - 15th October 2015).

Earlier, General Mai Quang Phan had also visited and sent new year greetings to the Provincial Party Committee, Military Command and beneficiary nursing home of Thanh Hoa; inspected and sent New Year greetings to Nghe An Provincial Military Command, Brigade 283 (Military Zone 4) and presented gifts to beneficiary families in the province.

"Frevo do Nordeste - The Frevo (to boil) - Typical Dance of Northeastern Brazil."

Frevo is a wide range of musical styles originating from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, all of which are traditionally associated with Brazilian Carnival. The word frevo is said to come from frever, a misspeaking of the Portuguese word ferver (to boil). It is said that the sound of the frevo will make listeners and dancers feel as if they are boiling on the ground. The word frevo is used for both the frevo music and the frevo dance.

The frevo music came first. By the end of the 19th century, bands from the Brazilian Army regiments based in the city of Recife started a tradition of parading during the Carnival. Since the Carnival is originally linked to Catholicism, they played religious procession marches and martial music, as well. A couple of regiments had famous bands which attracted lots of followers and it was just a matter of time to people start to compare one to another and cheer for their favorite bands. The two most famous bands were the Espanha (meaning Spain), whose conductor was of Spanish origin, and the 14, from the 14th regiment. The bands started to compete with each other and also started playing faster and faster, louder and louder.

Some tough men used to go ahead of the band, opening space to its parade by bullying people on the streets and threatening them with capoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial art and dancing) and knives. Eventually, when the bands met each other in the streets, fights between the capoeiristas were inevitable. These fights normally ended up with many wounded and even dead.

In order to end the violence, the police started to pursue the capoeiras and arrested many during their exhibitions. The latter reacted in a clever way by carrying umbrellas instead of knives and also disguising the capoeira movements as dance movements. The frevo dance was born.

The heavy rain that hit the metropolitan region of São Paulo on Saturday afternoon (7) delayed the departure from the band gueri gueri the square Gen. Estilac Lea (Monument to the Flags), the Ibirapuera Park region, where members and participants are concentrated.

Known for bringing artists and intellectual, the block had some technical equipment damaged, thus delaying the event in around two hours. The output forecast was around 17h.

Even the structured vip area, equipped with chemical toilets and 'food trucks', escaped the effects of rain.

The reserved area, which costs around R$ 140 and was initially a lawn in the open, was filled with mud.

An urban legend about the well-known monument, popularly called Push-push or Leave-Who-I-I push refers to the fact the vessel never leave the place, despite the quota that supposedly pulls. The "answer" lies in the fact that the figures ahead of the entourage were not really trying to move the canoe because the straps are visibly loose, as can be seen in the photo detail. The only figure that would be really struggling is the last, to push the boat.
