The head of state visited the Nevsky Pyatachok Memorial Military-Historical Complex in the Leningrad Region, where he laid flowers at the Landmark Stone monument. Later the President took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Motherland monument at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. Nazy Germany’s forces besieged Leningrad from September 8, 1941, until January 27, 1944. The siege was broken on January 18, 1943.
