Currently no record of approximately 40,000 transnational corporations in activity, with the majority originating from industrialized countries, however, there are companies of Indian origin, Mexican and Brazilian. Examples of TNCs are headquartered in Brazil: Vale do Rio Doce, Sadia, Perdigao, Weg, Alpargatas and Gerdau.

Transnational companies are known worldwide: Coca Cola, Pepsi, Unilever, McDonald's, Nestle, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Volkswagen, General Motors, Toyota, Nokia, Sony, Siemens, Peugeot, Live, among others. Features: turnover exceeding 500 billion U.S. dollars, do not have to obey the company's headquarters, are based on global competition and the freedom to move resources according to their interests.

Atualmente há registro de, aproximadamente, 40.000 empresas transnacionais em atividade, sendo a maioria originária dos países industrializados, no entanto, existem empresas de origem indiana, mexicana e brasileira.
