Cásper Líbero (Bragança Paulista city, March 2, 1889 - Rio de Janeiro, August 27, 1943) was a Brazilian journalist.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Saint Paul. Two years later, he founded the newspaper "Last Hour", in the city of Rio de Janeiro and, at 23, created the first state news agency of Saint Paul - the American agency.
In 1918, at 29 years old, he became director and owner of the evening "The Gazeta", modernizing it and making it one of the largest media outlets of the time. To that end, imported rotary Germany, replaced the telegraph by teletype and implemented new engraving techniques, composition and printing presses - the first color in Brazil. At the same time, he implemented a new dynamic in the transport and distribution of the newspaper, enabling copies reached the hands of readers in record time.
In 1932 he was one of the leaders of the revolution. In 1939, he inaugurated the Press Palace, as it came to be called the newspaper's own headquarters Gazeta in the old Street of Conceição, current Avenue Casper Libero. It was the first building erected in the country with the appropriate characteristics for writing, engraving, typesetting, printing and distribution of a newspaper.
Chaired between 1940 and 1941, the National Press Federation (FENAI - FAIBRA).
Created an especially dedicated to sports supplement, facing the football coverage, called "The Sports Gazeta" and was the founder of the Saint Silvestre Race.
When he died in a plane crash in Rio de Janeiro, which also died then archbishop of Saint Paul, Dom José Gaspar d'Afonseca e Silva, he left, according to his will present in the will itself, a communications complex that is administered currently by Casper Libero Foundation. This complex which currently brings together the TV Gazeta, Radio Gazeta AM and Radio Gazeta FM, the newspaper "The Gazeta" and "The Sports Gazeta", the Casper Libero College and the Corporate Citizenship Group.
