Square Colonel Fernando Prestes, Sorocaba. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Sorocaba or Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Bridge.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Sorocaba or Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Bridge, the seat of the Archdiocese of Sorocaba, located at Square Colonel Fernando Prestes in the city of Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil center. It was built over 200 years.
The cathedral is the mother church of the second derivative of the city, founded in 1771 when Portugal came from the image of Our Lady of the Bridge, which currently is the main Baroque altarpiece of 1771 The first parish church was the Church of Sant 'anna, current Saint Benedict Monastery. This curious invocation of Our Lady, common in Portugal, is unique in Brazil. The first Mass in the Church of Our Lady of colonial Bridge was recited in 1783.
The current church building is the result of a remodeling performed from the late nineteenth century. In 1924 the array was consecrated as a cathedral Dom Duarte Leopoldo e Silva, archbishop of São Paulo. The first bishop was José Carlos Aguirre, the Sun Aguirre. Has remarkable architecture and beautiful artistic details. Inside paintings Tomazzini Ernesto (1930) and Bruno Giusti (1949). The giant bell, installed in its tower, was melted in Sorocaba (1940), by Samassa brothers, who used 50 kilos of gold seeking sound quality.
At the top of the Archdiocesan Cathedral's Museum of Sacred Art of Sorocaba that soon will work in the mansion of the Largo de São Bento with Dr. Nogueira Martins Street, also in the central area of Sorocaba.

The Pergola at the Square Colonel Fernando Prestes was inaugurated on September 21, 1947 for performances of music bands. Located next to the Office of Reading and Recreation Club Union, was built to replace the old bandstand that was in the same place, being onstage, in recent decades, the exhibition alluding to Christmas, as assembling the crib christmas.
Earlier Saturday night... A long bath and invigorating, the best clothes, shoes well polished, the greaser rubbed the palms to soften the hair ... The girls from the early afternoon were beginning to prepare. The most awaited moment of the week finally arrived: the footing, romantic terminology used to call "flirting" between boys and girls.
Footing - Illustrative representation of footing in Praça Coronel Fernando Prestes.
Portuguese tiles on the Square Colonel Fernando Prestes, girls and boys elegantly walked around it in the opposite direction. Well composed, a row of boys in the middle and two other girls around, always exchanging glances and walking in circles in the center of the square.
"About the Portuguese mosaics of Piazza Colonel Fernando Prestes, girls and boys walked elegantly ..."
This happened on Saturday and Sunday evenings, at which girls and boys saw a great opportunity to flirt and perhaps an early dating. Many of the young people that if they knew, they dated and married.

The Great Tree [KAPOK TREE] neighborhood began in the mid-nineteenth century and his name was given because of the enormous ceiba maintained by residents by the year 2008 In 1978, much of the stem broke and the tree began to show signs of weakness. Since then, residents have banded together to save her. The hollow trunk was concreted and remained steady for a few more decades, and has also been the target of a fire caused by vandals.
A Árvore Grande

On a local television dance show in Idaho in February 1958, local teens dance to one of the biggest dance crazes out of the late-1950's called The Stroll, which originated from American Bandstand. This dance was performed in a line formed with boys on one side and girls on the other, creating an isle between them. The boy and girl in the front of the line would meet up in the middle, grab hands and stroll their way down the line, as the other kids in the line would move their way up to the front using the same dance steps that the couple moving down the line would use, but move from side to side instead. When the first couple made their way down the line, another couple would meet in the middle and stroll down the isle.
