Hidroxocobalamina é o nome do medicamento solicitado. Serve para
combater a intoxicação causada pelo gás cianeto, o mesmo usado nas
câmaras de gás nazistas, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Era o princípio ativo do tristemente famoso Zyklon B dos campos de extermínio.
Segundo o pesquisador Anthony Wong, diretor médico do Ceatox (Centro de
Assistência Toxicológica do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de
Medicina da USP) trata-se de um dos venenos mais letais, por sua
capacidade de paralisar os mecanismos de produção de energia das
células, matando-as.
Pois o cianeto apareceu junto com a fuligem e o monóxido de carbono
dentro da Kiss, como consequência da combustão dos materiais usados no
revestimento acústico.
"Não tem cheiro nem cor e é capaz de matar em um prazo curtíssimo, de quatro a cinco minutos", explica Wong.

O incêndio que deixou mais de 230 mortos em uma boate da cidade de Santa Maria, no Rio Grande do Sul, é um dos piores em número de vítimas desde 2000.

- 25 dezembro de 2000: CHINA - 309 mortos em um incêndio que destruiu um complexo comercial e uma discoteca em Luoyang (centro)

- 20 fevereiro 2003: ESTADOS UNIDOS - 100 mortos e 200 feridos em um clube em West Warwick (Rhode Island, nordeste)
- 31 dezembro 2004: ARGENTINA - 194 mortos e 375 feridos em uma discoteca em Buenos Aires, onde 2.000 jovens viam um show de rock.
- 20 setembro 2008: CHINA - 44 mortos e 87 feridos no incêndio de uma discoteca em Shenzhen (sul), provocado por fogos de artifícios lançados dentro do recinto.
- 1º janeiro 2009: TAILNDIA - 66 pessoas que festejavam o Ano Novo em uma discoteca em Bangcoc morreram no incêndio causado pelo lançamento de fogos de artifício.
- 5 dezembro de 2009: RúSSIA: 155 mortos em um incêndio provocado pelo lançamento de fogos de artifício em uma discoteca em Perm (1.200 km de Moscou)
- 27 janeiro 2013: BRASIL: ao menos 233 mortos no incêndio de uma boate em Santa Maria, no Rio Grande do Sul. A causa principal das morte foi asfixia, já que muitos jovens entraram em pânico e foram pisoteados, segundo os bombeiros.
